Public Speaking
As part of my outreach work, I give talks, courses, and public lectures on topics in science, astronomy, astro-anthropology, and the intersection of astronomy/science/technology and politics. Past events include:
"How to" science research workshops with middle school students.
Lecture on dark energy and our model of the universe to retirees.
Introductory course on the cultural history of astronomy to top high school students in China.
Hybrid English-Chinese astronomy lecture to middle school students in Taiwan.
I have given talks to groups of all ages, levels of astronomy knowledge, and levels of English fluency, in several countries and many US states, virtually and in-person. If you would like to schedule an event with me, please email me via williamgottemoller[at]gmail.com!

Observing Outreach
I also conduct outreach observing events with my mobile observing and astrophotography rigs. I own 16" and 12" (pictured) reflector telescopes, which can be assembled on-site in dark sites. I also own a small astrophotography telescope, which can be used to take pictures of the night sky from dark locations (see Amateur Astronomy). I have run observing nights for large groups of retirees, school groups, and informal astronomy organizations throughout Southeast Wisconsin.
If you would like to schedule an observing event, please email me via [email protected]. Due to transportation constraints, only venues in Southeast Wisconsin will be considered.
